In the early 1970s, there was an important boost in the industrial scenario. With high technological growth and to meet the market needs, a number of industries were established, some with international participation and some indigenous. Due to the rapid growth, it was realized that small-scale enterprises were necessary to provide services to large and medium-sized industries. It was also realized that developing units and appointing technocrats who could manufacture equipment under import substitution was also considered to reduce the amount of foreign exchange that impact the economy of our country.
Around this time, Dr. P T Shah, a senior production engineer at M/s. Jyoti Ltd. in Baroda who was then working under the capable direction of Shri Nanubhai Amin, made a big step and established HEMANT INDUSTRIES, a tiny business, on small-scale industry at GIDC Estate, Makarpura, Baroda. This was done with the long-term goal of serving the Indian economy and developing nation. He provided his services to large and medium-sized enterprises in and around Baroda and the entire state of Gujarat, drawing on his experiences at Tata Chemicals Ltd., Sayaji Iron, and Jyoti Ltd. as well as his ongoing exposure to numerous industry sectors and the hunger of learning and in-depth research. He worked on fabrication and manufacturing of equipment, and more on import substitution items.
Aside from import replacement goods, Hemant Industries produced ball valves, the first of their kind in Gujarat, which were delivered to the Baroda Municipal Gas line project. Additionally, the company served to numerous medium- and large-scale companies by providing Vernier manometers, 3 and 5 way manifold valves, and needle valves that are used in industrial instrumentation applications.About Our Sister Concerns
